World Cup Predictions - 16th June

Four matches today. I think France, Denmark and Croatia will definitely win and Argentina should win, but I would not discount Iceland. My score predictions are below...

France 3-1 Australia 

Argentina 3-2 Iceland

Peru 0-2 Denmark

Croatia 3-0 Nigeria

I'd have to say, I was a bit bored by yesterday's first two matches. Egypt played really well against Uruguay, but repeatedly failed to make anything of their chances, they were much better in defence than attacking. For the best part, much to my surprise, they were the better team. Cavani had an excellent couple of shots on goal, but Suarez was a total disaster, he looked like he was sleeping! Can't say with any conviction that Uruguay deserved to win that match.

As for Morocco vs Iran - this was a really boring game. Morocco wasting chance after chance until Iran snatched a last minute goal and won the match.

But the Portugal vs Spain match was absolutely thrilling, excitingly what I was expecting of it. Ronaldo's hat-trick was nothing short of fantastic - that first free kick in particular was genius. But nothing to be taken away from Diego Costa's fab goal for Spain, just whizzing through Portugal's defence like they weren't even there! Thoroughly enjoyed this match!

World Cup Predictions - 15th June

Three matches today. I think Uruguay, Morocco and Spain will win. My score predictions are below...

Yesterday's match was far more one sided than I thought - I thought Russia would win, but not 5-0!

World Cup - My Predictions

Well, as a mega footy fan, I'm totally looking forward to the World Cup this year!

I'll be cheering on my favourite two teams - England and Brazil. Though I'll be watching almost every game! I just love the whole tournament!

I think Brazil will win this year, they have a great line-up and a team that are clearly capable of winning if they play well together. I saw a friendly and they weren't that impressive, but it was a friendly and I expect them to give more for the World Cup.

As for England, I watched a friendly of there's too. While they played quite well, I honestly don't see them as winning material. I do like that Gareth Southgate didn't just go for the big names for the team though, it looks like he thought better off that. Watching the last World Cup in 2014, that's what I thought the problem was - big headed players not really putting their hearts into playing for their country, they didn't even seem to want to be there! I'd like to see England do well, but seeing how they played, I'm not sure they have what it takes to be winning material. Though just like Brazil, maybe they'll up their game in the actual World Cup Matches.

I think the final four will be Brazil, Germany, France & Argentina. With the final likely being Brazil vs France, in my opinion.

As for today's match, I think Russia will beat Saudi Arabia. They're not necessarily the better of the two teams, but it's their first game in their country, the first game of the tournament, so they will want to get that win. I predict Russia 2-1 Saudi Arabia. I've not seen either team play previously, so I really can't comment much more, we'll have to see how it goes.

Champions League Final 2018

Well, that didn't go as I'd hoped!

I expected a better show from Liverpool. I cannot believe the stupid mistake Karius made giving away that silly goal to Benzema!

And the foul on Salah by Ramos was clearly deliberate. But, just because Salah was injured, we still should have payed better.

You can't help but wonder if the foul from Ramos on Karius was deliberate too! Maybe it affected his decision making?

Liverpool were by the far the better team to start with, we were really taking the game to Real Madrid, but as soon as Salah went off injured, thins went downhill from there.

Mane's goal straight after the silly Benzema goal, was a great comeback to level, but we were sheer outclassed overall.

And in light off everything, even though I'm a Liverpool supporter, you've got to admit that overhead goal from Gareth Bale was nothing if not genius!

The game wasn't really the thrilling, spectacular game I had been expecting though, and I really hope the CL cup was coming home to Liverpool.

Still, we're in it again next year, so let's hope we do better!
